Lifetime Original Movie “BETTY & CORETTA” star ANGELA BASSETT

angelaandmaryjblige2x2Next month, Lifetime celebrates Black History Month with an impressive trio of world premiere movies with major award-winning casts. The celebration kicks off with Betty & Coretta, starring Golden Globe® Award-winner and Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got to Do with It?) and starring and executive produced by nine-time Grammy®-winning recording artist Mary J. Blige on Saturday, February 2nd at 8:00PM ET/PT.
Telling the dual real-life stories of Coretta Scott King (Bassett) and Dr. Betty Shabazz (Blige), wives respectively of Dr. Martin Luther King (Malik Yoba, New York Undercover) and Malcolm X (Lindsay Owen Pierre, The Killing Yard), as they create an unbreakable life-long bond after their husbands’ tragic assassinations
Focusing on the extraordinary women behind the two men who would change history, Betty & Coretta tells the similar true stories of Coretta Scott King, wife of Dr. Martin Luther King and Dr. Betty Shabazz, wife of Malcolm X. When their husbands were tragically assassinated, these two women not only inherited the mantle of the civil rights movement in America, each also found herself to be a single mother who had to find a way to raise and support her children with no husband or father, resulting in a relationship like no other that spanned more than three decades

  1. Askia Toure says:

Dear Unity First, this is a fine project which hopefully will both enlighten and inspire Black people, and all who cherish democracy and human rights. I would like to point out one constant error of many writers and journalists who follow the Civil Rights/Black Power movements: Dr.King’s name is: Martin Luther King, Jr. (ML King, Sr. was his FATHER, who was a prominent Atlanta minister and community leader.) Fraternally, Askia M. Toure’.

  2. I pray that everyone will have the chance to watch these two magnificent women in this movie. I’m looking forward to it.agnificent
