Having appeared in more than 100 films and countless stage productions, Keith David has taken on a huge range of roles. In OWN’s new mega-church drama, Greenleaf, Keith inhabits Bishop James Greenleaf, the powerful head pastor of Greenleaf World Ministries in Memphis, Tennessee.
As Oprah points out in this exclusive interview, Keith has played preachers before. What makes Bishop James different?
“I get to explore him more fully than most other ones I’ve played before,” Keith explains. “What I love about this exploration is, you know, the preacher is just a man. Either you want to be like him, or you don’t want to be like him. That’s ministry.”
