Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum will hold its 29 th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Program on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Come join the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum in commemorating the life and legacy of one of the nation’s most prolific speakers and influential social justice leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s program features keynote speaker Nicole C. Lee, President of TransAfrica, who will be delivering her keynote address on the topic “Lifting the Torch: The Legacy of Nelson Mandela.”
In her speech, Ms. Lee will demonstrate the parallels that exist in the life of Mandela and that of Dr. King. The second half of the program will feature performances by Lesole’s Dance Project, founded by South African native Lesole Maine. The museum invites you participate in and enjoy this powerful thought-provoking program.
