Ms. Foundation for Women joins White House Council on Women and Girls to announce new partnership to advance equity for women and girls of color

Five-year, $100 million funding commitment by women’s foundations to create opportunities for low-income women

Prosperity Together, a nonpartisan partnership of women’s foundations dedicated to improving the economic security of low-income women and their families, announced a new funding initiative to advance equity for low-income women in the United States. Prosperity Together is comprised of U.S.-based public women’s foundations. The partners announced a five-year, $100 million funding commitment to invest in programs and policies that will create pathways to opportunity for low-income women and girls of color.

“Real change starts with empowering women in their own lives and in their own communities,” said Ms. Foundation for Women President and CEO Teresa C. Younger. “Prosperity Together is committed to giving women the opportunity and support to create the change and solutions they need.”

The new initiative was announced at a daylong summit on advancing equity for women and girls of color, hosted by the White House Council on Women and Girls.

Ms. Foundation for Women board members, staff and grantees were among the participants at the summit. The foundation’s President and CEO Teresa C. Younger is one of the leaders who partnered with the Council in conceptualizing the summit and Jocelyn Frye, a Ms. Foundation board member, moderated a panel. Current and former Ms. Foundation grantees were featured on several panels, including Ai-Jen Poo, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance; Jessica González-Rojas, executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health; and Miriam Yeung, executive director of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum.
