The News Director will lead a staff of five reporters, providing management and editorial oversight for the department; report, host and produce news programs and participate in station planning as part of the senior management team. WFCR is committed to building a diverse workforce.

WFCR is located in the heart of the Connecticut RiverValley of western Massachusetts, a culturally diverse region renowned for distinguished educational institutions and a vibrant artistic and cultural life.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years relevant experience in journalism and production, preferably in public radio. Sound, creative news judgment; commitment to balance and journalism ethics. Ability to develop story ideas, make coverage decisions, edit, report, write and voice to public radio standards on deadline. Familiarity with digital editing and broadcast content software. Ability to work as part of a management team, work outside normal business hours and travel to sources of news stories.

Salary and benefits are competitive for medium-market public radio stations; hiring salary range $48,800 – $61,200. (For exceptional candidates, consideration may be given for salary offer up to $67,400.)
