Celebrating bold ideas, fresh energy, and new relationships!
The National Black Women’s Town Hall (NBWTH), Inc. is full speed ahead as they build upon the success of their past events and efforts and move forward with bold new ideas, fresh energy, and new relationships, due in part to an overwhelming response to an open letter written in February to black women and organizations nationwide. 2013 represents their fifth year anniversary marked by an increase in its board leadership and volunteers along with its new Advisory, Sisterhood and Collegiate Councils.
“We are excited about the strides we’ve made since 2008; however, we knew we had to make some changes to our business model by expanding our perspective, increasing our membership and developing win-win sustainable relationships,” shares Blanche Williams, NBWTH Founder and President. “We look forward to an amazing year ahead as we develop the online and grassroots community with our sisters around the country and the world.”
The NBWTH Board of Directors welcomes author/activist Rochelle Soetan from Maryland as its newest member joining Suluki Id-Deen from Florida and Cheryl Pressley from North Carolina. Its Advisory Council welcomes communications expert Janine Fondon, Founder of UnityFirst.com and Filmmaker/Journalist Daphne Valerius while its Collegiate Council engages young leaders on HBCU campuses including Tayler Cloud from Hampton University in Virginia and Anita Foster from Spelman College in Atlanta. Our valued volunteers serving on various committees include Elda Auxiliaire, Ellen Carr, Lisa Haidara, Thalia Griffin-Mercer and Anita Nahal, PhD.
In the truest spirit of collaboration, the NBWTH Sisterhood Council is dedicated to joining forces in friendship and effort with sister organizations, including Every Girl Can in Maryland/DC led by Yasmin Anderson-Smith and The Sisterhood Agenda in the Virgin Islands led by Angela M. Coleman, MBA.
