We congratulate President Obama” says Phill Wilson, the President and CEO of the Black AIDS Institute. Over the next 4 years, we must work with the administration to help them to understand the urgency and opportunity for ending the AIDS epidemic.
We must encourage them to invest in both the infrastructure to make sure that the 1.1 Americans living w HIV reach viral suppression and in an environment in which people living with HIV are free from the stigma and discrimination that create barriers to appropriate treatment, retention in care, and contributing to our society.
We expect that during his second term President Obama will double down on his efforts and commitment to end the epidemic.
Founded in May of 1999, the Black AIDS Institute (www.blackaids.org) is the only national HIV/AIDS think tank in the United States focused exclusively on Black people. The Institute’s Mission is to stop the AIDS pandemic in Black communities by engaging and mobilizing Black institutions and individuals in efforts to confront HIV. The Institute interprets public and private sector HIV policies, conducts trainings, offers technical assistance, disseminates information and provides advocacy and mobilization from a uniquely and unapologetically Black point of view. www.blackaids.org
