Last month at the beautiful headquarters of the Asia Society, more than 100 female executives attended the first WOMEN@L’ORÉAL USA Executive Forum organized for the development and advancement of female leaders at the company.
Under the theme, “Unlock Your Potential,” the audience , which included 14 executive men, was treated to insights and dialogue from such experts as keynote speaker Joanna Barsh, Director Emeritus, McKinsey & Company and President of The Centered Leadership Project, and Nathalie Malige, CEO, Diverseo.
Among the data shared that day, participants learned how the company fared in two important benchmarks:
- Women in leadership roles at L’Oréal USA significantly surpass the national representation of women in salary equity (average dollar earned for like roles vs. men), and
- As it relates to the most senior positions, L’Oréal USA outpaces the US workforce in women Executive Committee members (business leaders) and in CEO direct reports.
The full-day session opened with introductions by Angela Guy, Senior Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion and Sarah Hibberson, Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Two panels featured L’Oréal executives who shared leadership insights with the audience. Joanna Barsh served as facilitator for “Unlock Your Career,” during which Karen Fondu, President, L’Oréal Paris; Carol Hamilton, President, Luxe Division; and Michael Larrain, President, Active Cosmetics Division, discussed navigating their career paths and gave advice on career development. The second panel, “Unlock Your Life,” was facilitated by Carol Evans, CEO, Diversity Best Practices and Working Mother Magazine, and the audience heard from Nicole Fourgoux, Vice President, General Manager, SoftSheen-Carson; Barry Gilmore, Chief Information Officer, and Leslie Marino, General Manager, Redken 5th Avenue NYC and Pureology, each of whom shared tips on work/life integration.
The day concluded with inspiring remarks from L’Oréal USA President and CEO Frédéric Rozé.
