Heads of State and Corporate Leaders Gather for 2013 Latin Trade Symposium & Awards.

This year’s conference, “Innovative Public-Private Collaborations for Impact: The Leaders, The Companies, The Paradigms for Success,” will take place on October 25 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.

The conference program will be anchored by two high-level addresses presented by the Honorable Otto Perez Molina, President of Guatemala, and by German Efromovich, CEO of Synergy Group. Perez Molina will speak about Guatemala’s transformation as the newest investment destination in Latin America, while Efromovich will focus on the importance of collaborations between the public and private sectors to achieve growth.

The Symposium will feature panels on some of the key business and policy topics atop the regional agenda.

“Strategies for Success” – The emergence of multilatinas has propelled corporations in Latin America to the global stage. During this panel, CEOs from Latin America’s leading corporations will discuss regional successes and best practices for transitioning to a global brand. Panelists for this session include alvaro Fernandez Garza, CEO of Alfa; Ignacio Antonanzas, CEO of Enersis; and David Bojanini Garcia, CEO of Grupo Sura.

“Innovative Collaborations for Sustained Growth” – As Latin America’s middle class continues to grow exponentially, this burgeoning consumer base requires new types of goods and services. Governments and corporations have formed public-private partnerships, working to build sustainable initiatives that will be essential for providing opportunities to citizens and businesses. This panel will feature speakers from both the private and public sectors, including Felipe Bosch Gutierrez, Director of Corporacion Multi Inversiones; Vidal Garza Cantu, Director of the FEMSA Foundation; Salvador Paiz, Vice President of the Foundation for the Development of Guatemala (FUNDESA); and Sergio Cabral, Governor of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“Latin America’s New Strategic Alliances” – In Latin America’s ever-changing political landscape, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru have formed the Pacific Alliance to consolidate ties to Asian markets, while Brazil has made inroads with Africa and continues to expand its relationship with China and other BRICS nations. Panelists including Alejandro Werner, Director of the Western Hemisphere Department at the International Monetary Fund, will discuss Latin America’s global reach, new market access and the role of regional blocs.

The symposium will also include concurrent sessions on the most recent regional developments on integration and connectivity, philanthropy and energy.

Additionally, the conference program will be followed by the BRAVO Business Awards gala ceremony that will recognize nine distinguished leaders for their contributions to Latin America and the Caribbean.
